…the most beautiful day of the summer
…families, youth teams, friends and co-workers walking through their city with their yellow buckets
…so many opportunities to tell passerbys about the event and why we were walking
…out-of-state visitors joining in and participating in the Walk
…the compasion demonstrated by one homeless man giving 50 cents to help bring safe water to the people of Kager
…inspiring music from the Griot Drum Ensemble and Under The Olive Trees
…great corporate partenrship from St. Vincent Health, Delta Faucets, Dorel Juvenile Group and Homes By McKenzie
…a volunteer team who chose to be super-flexible even when things weren’t 100% spelled out
…the way volunteers and walkers grasped the vision of ‘what can be’ for a village 8000 miles away

And in addition to raising awareness, we raised A LOT of money.

Thanks to the grass roots fundraising of 250 Walkers and Volunteers, over $64,000 was raised in a SINGLE DAY!

We are so thankful you chose to be a part of the day. None of this would have been possible without great people like our Walkers, Volunteers and JVP Leaders.

But now the REAL WORK begins…to bring accessible safe water to all the people of Kager. In the coming weeks, the leaders of the Jubilee Village Project will be meeting with the leaders of Water Mission International to begin laying out the blueprints for the Community Water Program. Our goal is to have a fully developed set of blueprints and technical plans so we can review with the village leaders and Safe Water Committee when we have a team visit the village in late October.

As we make progress, we will be using this Blog and the JVP e-newsletter as the primary means to communicate to all our supporters on the progress of the Community Water Program.

Once again, thanks to everyone that made the first ever Walk For Water a great success.
